These 4 DIY ultra-hydrating hair masks are all you need to nourish dry and damaged hair

Struggling with dry and damaged hair? These natural hair masks will give your tresses all the hydration they need

From pollutants present in the air to all the heat that goes into hair styling, there’s so much damage we cause to our tresses without even realising! Over time, our hair ends up losing its natural oil and lustre. And of course, this results in dry and damaged hair, which is rough to touch and prone to breakage. Quite the opposite of what we want, isn’t it?

If your hair has been in this condition for some time now, it clearly means you need to give it more nourishment to restore its health. After all, healthy hair can really change your whole look.

And guess what, nothing works better than natural ingredients for good hair! In fact, we advise you to avoid using any more chemicals, and opt for one of these hair masks.

Here are 4 hydrating hair masks that’ll nourish your dry and damaged tresses, making them healthy all over again:

1. Egg and olive oil hair mask
Eggs are rich in vitamin A and E, and also boast high protein content. They are not just great for moisturising the hair, but also strengthening it. In case you’re wondering, egg whites and yolk are both important, when it comes to treating dry and damaged hair. Olive oil is known for its powerful properties that help to hydrate both the scalp and hair.

A rich source of protein, eggs is just what your hair needs!

Mix one whole egg with two tablespoons of olive oil. You can also add 5 drops of lavender oil to this mixture, if you’re sensitive to the smell of eggs. Apply this mixture on your hair, and let it dry. Rinse your hair using a mild shampoo.

2. Banana and castor oil
Bananas are rich in multiple vitamins, minerals and natural oils. Hence, they work extremely well to hydrate the hair as well as the scalp. Castor oil, which is rich in fatty acids, provides nourishment to dry and damaged hair. When combined, these ingredients can restore the moisture to dry hair.

A mushy banana shall leave your hair moisturised

Add three tablespoons of castor oil to 2 mashed bananas. You can adjust the quantity, according to your hair length. Apply this mixture to your hair and let it rest for about 20 minutes. Rinse your hair using warm water and a mild shampoo.

3. Mayonnaise and aloe vera
Aloe vera, which contains a high quantity of water, is well-known for its hydrating properties. Mayonnaise may sound like a bizarre ingredient to add to your hair packs, but the eggs and oil in it can prove to be extremely moisturising for your hair.

Trust aloe vera gel to nourish your locks like no other.

Add two tablespoons of aloe vera to two tablespoons of mayonnaise. Apply this to your hair and let it rest for 30 minutes, before rinsing with a mild shampoo.

4. Honey and coconut oil
Coconut oil has been used since time immemorial to treat dry and damaged hair. It is highly moisturising, and can provide the nourishment that dry hair needs to restore its lustre. Honey, a natural humectant, will help you retain the moisture provided by coconut oil. Moreover, its antibacterial properties help you steer clear of scalp infections.

Coconut oil is a big YES when it comes to damaged hair.

Add two tablespoons of honey to four tablespoons of coconut oil. Apply this to your hair and let it rest for 30 minutes. Rinse your hair using a mild shampoo.
