3. Don’t have unrealistic expectations
Let’s say you’ve tried meditating every day this week but haven’t managed to do so. This shouldn’t serve as a reason to give up on mediating entirely. It is the consistency that matters. We live in times of instant gratification which is why we feel everything must show instant results. Well, ladies, that’s not the case with meditation. Unlike what the internet tells you, meditation is not life-changing from the very beginning, but once it starts showing its effects, there’s no way you’d be giving up on it. 4. Carefully design your environment
We might not really admit to this, but we are highly influenced by our environment and the people around us. So, talking about meditation with a friend who has been practising for some time may prove to be motivating, or even watching a TED talk on the subject is a good idea. You can also spark your interest in meditation by reading books on mindfulness.
5. Try out guided meditation
When you start meditating, it might not be easy for you to do it without guidance. Thankfully, it’s the golden age of the internet, and there are a million videos on YouTube to help you out. These guided meditation sessions are short and easy to follow. So, instead of just sitting and struggling to meditate, you literally have a mentor telling you what to do, step by step. All you have to do is focus on your breathing!
