Vitamin C is a vital substance for the body. It is responsible for multiple functions within the body so it has to be ingested from the diet daily

The vitamin C that you need each day depends on your age. In an average adult person the daily requirement is 75-90 mg.

Citric fruits

Orange, Kiwi, Strawberry, Raspberry, Lemon, Blackberry, Blueberry and Tangerine.

There are other fruits that are not citrus but are also an excellent option as a source of vitamin C, among them we have Papaya, Pineapple, Watermelon, melon and mango.


In this group we have broccoli, potatoes, tomatoes, red and green peppers, cauliflower, spinach, cabbage and turnips.

Some foods and drinks are fortified with vitamin C such as cereals, energy drinks, nutritional bars, etc.

The vitamin C content of a food may decrease when it is cooked or stored for a long time. Steaming or microwave cooking may reduce the loss of vitamin C. It is advisable to eat these foods raw but washed properly.
