The former Andhra Pradesh minister was among ten people arrested for kidnapping a field hockey player and some of his family members on Wednesday. The former minister was arrested in connection with the abduction of three people, Praveen Rao, Sunil Rao and Naveen Rao, who are said to be close to Telangana Prime Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. According to the commissioner, about 10 people broke into the residence of Praveen Rao, who has been living with his two brothers Sunil Rao and Naveen Rao in the apartment of Krishna Residency in Manovikas Nagar in Bowenpally around 19:20. They introduced themselves as income tax agents and one of them even flaunted his identity card.

They then took cell phones, laptops and other devices from all the family members saying that this was part of the procedure followed during the searches.


Pratap Rao said that after 15 to 20 minutes the CCTV cameras were turned off and when he tried to communicate with his siblings, they were unavailable. He became suspicious and contacted the tax authorities, who made it clear that the department was not conducting any searches. He informed his family friends, Deputy Maloth Kavitha and State Minister Srinivasa Goud, who alerted the senior police officers.

This fact is still under investigation and official statements from the authorities on the case are awaited.
