Deepika's name came up after her 2017 WhatsApp conversations with manager Karishma Prakash recovered where the actress is allegedly seen asking for hash.
Karishma was interrogated for more than 6 hours. And he assured that there were only three people in the chat group, including Jaya Saha, Karishma Prakash and Deepika Padukone; and that the group administrator was Deepika.
Despite having already given her statement, the producer has been summoned again to testify to the NCB, on September 26. And it is likely that Prakash's interrogation will take place face to face in front of Deepika, in order to confirm the veracity of the information.
The NCB noose has tightened on these celebrities and more names are expected to come up in the drug conspiracy. On September 26, in addition to Deepika, Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor are also expected to be questioned by the federal agency.
The NCB is conducting an investigation into the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead at his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020.
