When it comes to managing PCOS, diet plays a very important role. So, here are some diet tips from Sonam Kapoor, fellow PCOS warrior, to help you out.

Polycystic ovary syndrome, also known as PCOS, is a hormonal disorder which is characterised by small cysts on the outer edges of the ovaries. This ailment often manifests as irregular periods, weight gain, loss of hair, and acne.

Read on to know how Sonam Kapoor’s PCOS diet has been helping her.

It is fairly common amongst women, however many of us are not able to discuss it openly thanks to the taboo around women’s reproductive health. That said, celebrities are working towards diluting this stigma and encouraging women to seek the medical help they need by talking openly about their struggles and tips when it comes to PCOS.

In fact, recently Sonam Kapoor revealed that she has been living with PCOS for quite some time now. Talking about her journey, she addressed that fact that PCOS can be confusing:

“It’s also an extremely confusing condition since everyone’s causes, symptoms and struggles are different.”

She also said that she’d be sharing some tips with us and she has lived up to the promise by revealing her PCOS diet tips that have helped her cope with the hormonal disorder.

This is Sonam Kapoor’s PCOS diet
First things first, Sonam is completely off dairy and sugar. It makes sense because PCOS can lead to an increased risk of developing insulin resistance. Hence, consuming foods that will only add to that risk can be harmful to your health.

Second of all, Sonam only eats fresh and natural produce. Talking about this, she says: “Usually my food intake consists of everything natural, fresh and local. Wherever I am, I make sure I indulge in the produce that is locally and freshly available.” You see, doing so ensures that you’re limiting your intake of refined foods and preservatives.

As an example of her PCOS diet, Sonam mentioned her go-to breakfast which is a handful of berries with coconut yoghurt and granola which is grain-free. She tops it up with a bowl of greens. With this, she takes spearmint or green tea to keep her energised!

It is heartening to see Sonam creating awareness around PCOS and share her journey with us. But she also does mention that one needs to seek professional help for PCOS. This is because every woman’s PCOS is unique. There isn’t a one-shoe-fits-all approach when it comes to PCOS.

What Sonam’s journey teaches us is that when you have PCOS, a healthy diet plan made just for you can truly help you manage the disorder and can go a long way in ensuring that you stay healthy.
